dis/integrations
dis/integrations is a site-specific sound and light installation in the old garage for the
iNiTiALE! Exhibition located in Lüdersdorf – Rao & Bévand.
dis/integrations enacts a twofold interactive and real-time composition, capturing and
transfering electromagnetic waves outside of the human hearing range emanating from
the overheadprojector and the loudspeaker into audible sounds, creating sonic textures
through droning and noisy amplified interferences. A visual projection mirrors
architectonic debris on the wall.
A found manmade fisure in the garage architecture – a dug up hole in the ground – tells of
an imp-act, leaving traces of de-construction and enabling the re-construction by eroding
the old. This installation explores the fracturing of established systems, representing the
ruptures in society. The physical form of the demolition is portrayed through fragments of
concrete, symbolizing the disintegration of old structures. These broken forms reflect the
natural tendency for chaos to evolve into new formations.
This concrete biotope caught in a certain time-frame partly exposes it ́s inner structure
from in- and outside. The negative-positive potential repeats and re-composes itself again
and again. This collaborative composition is a mirroring process, where visual rhythms
breath into sonic textures embodying the idea of synthesis, symbolizing the capacity for
transformation.
The visuals act as a graphical score of rhythmic patterns. Guests are invited to interact
with the installation using their phones interfering with the e-wave-receivers and are also
able to reorganize the visuals with scattered objects, contributing to the reintegration
while co-creating the composition. This installation signifies collapse as not the end but a
necessary step.
